In the first half of 2024, the Ministry of Finance continues to strengthen international cooperation through high-level external activities, international conferences and seminars, cooperation programs between the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam and the Ministries of Finance of other countries; programs and projects funded by foreign funds for the Ministry of Finance.

The first 6 months of 2024 recorded many positive results in the Ministry of Finance's external affairs with the highlight being the visit and working visit of Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc in Japan and the Republic of Korea in March 2024 to promote bilateral financial cooperation and attend the ASEAN Finance Ministers' Meeting (AFMGM) in Laos in April 2024 to promote multilateral financial cooperation.

Also in the first half of 2024, leaders of the Ministry of Finance received many foreign partners such as the delegation of the Hungarian Ministry of Finance, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, the Ambassador of Japan, the State Secretary of the German Ministry of Cooperation and Development, the Chairman of FWD Group, the Leader of Samsung Group, etc General Director of Concessor AG Philipp Rosler, Director of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, IMF Article IV Delegation, U.S.-ASEAN Senior Business Delegation (USABC), Australian Investment Fund Delegation, Citibank Delegation, Intel Vietnam Delegation,.... High-level and unit-level financial external activities under the Ministry of Finance have created opportunities for the Ministry of Finance to share and learn good practices on public financial management, promoting cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and foreign partners.

Regarding promoting international financial integration, in the first 6 months of 2024, the Ministry of Finance has submitted to the Government for promulgation Decree 05/2024/ND-CP dated January 24, 2024 on Vietnam's Special Preferential Import Tariff to implement the Vietnam-Cambodia Bilateral Trade Promotion Agreement for the 2023-2024 period. In negotiating other Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), the Ministry of Finance continues to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant ministries with the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and EFTA States (VN-EFTA FTA). At the same time, the Ministry of Finance continues to review and ensure the compliance and effective implementation of international integration commitments in FTAs, tax agreements, and agreements on cooperation and mutual assistance in the field of customs.

Moreover, the Ministry of Finance continues to implement bilateral cooperation programs with the Ministries of Finance of Hungary, Poland and Australia, technical assistance projects using foreign funding for the Ministry of Finance according to the plan approved by the competent authority./.
