On March 5, 2024, at the Ministry of Finance Headquarter, the Ministry of Finance had a working session with the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on establishing a Regional and International Financial C in Viet Nam.
On the Ministry of Finance’s side, attending the meeting were representatives of the Department of International Cooperation, the Department of Finance of Banks and Financial Institutions, the Department of Corporate Finance, the Department of Accounting and Auditing Regulations.
On the British Embassy delegation’s side were Mr. Andrew Oldlands, Head of Financial Services team and Regulatory Affairs, Ms. Tran Huong Giang, Business Environment and Financial Services advisor and TheCityUK.
At the meeting, the Ministry of Finance and the British Embassy had discussed the role, vision and various contents relating to the draft of the Establishment of a Regional and International Financial Centre Project. Representatives of units under the Ministry of Finance shared with the British Embassy Delegation about the progress of reforming the legal framework on financial technology, corporate governance, regulations on international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and the roadmap for equitization of state-owned enterprises in the coming period.

The British Embassy expressed the deepest gratitude towards the representatives of the Ministry of Finance for sharing the information regarding the Regional and International Financial Centre Project. At the same time, the British Embassy committed to accompanying the Ministry of Finance and relevant Government agencies in the process of developing the project in the forthcoming period.
At the end of the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, the Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation thanked the British Embassy for supporting the Ministry of Finance in the process of reforming public financial management recently and looked forward to continuing to receive the assistance and companion from the British Embassy in the near future./.
