The Vietnamese Government said in its resolution of the May regular meeting that it is striving to keep the consumer price index (CPI) around 6-7% this year.

To realize the target, the Government asked ministries and sectors to focus on instructing and enforcing the issued policies and mechanisms, particularly those on curbing economic recession, in order to productively put stimulus packages into reality.

The State Bank of Việt Nam was ordered to guide commercial banks to quickly streamline lending procedures to assist enterprises and individuals to boost production and business.

The Government also asked ministries, sectors and localities to speed up the disbursement of capital construction projects (especially those scheduled to be completed in 2009-2010) that are funded by the State budget, governmental bonds, State credits and ODA.
